Public Shell Machines
Public shell machines operated by Unix Computing may be used by any user with an appropriate association. They are not open to the University at large. These hosts include:

  • joule, fresnel and alder
Linux machines which may be used in the lab CIS E124, or via secure shell (ssh) connections.
  • Pondermatic Linux machines available by special arrangement to run large compute jobs. Contact manager@jfi for more information.
Public Computer Labs
Unix Computing supports three computer labs. See the Computer labs page for more details.

Unix System Administration
Unix Computing will maintain your UNIX or UNIX-style computer for you if you do not have the time or desire to do it. We can also provide advice (and a sympathetic ear) for do-it-yourselfers. Contact manager@jfi if you would like information.

Computing Open House Days
Unix Computing sponsors an Open House once monthly (schedules permitting) to discuss topics of concern to our user community. These topics may include encryption, backups, introductions to operating systems, and so on. Please feel free to suggest topics via email to manager@jfi.
